women after Vaginal Tightening Procedure

How Does Vaginal Tightening Work?

by | Dec 16, 2019

Vaginal tightening (also often referred to as labiaplasty or vaginoplasty) is a surgical procedure focusing on excess skin around the inner or outer labia.

This extra skin could be there for a variety of reasons. For some women, it may have always been there. Others may have experienced stretching during childbirth and now have excess skin around the labia. For others still, a tighter vagina is just something they want to feel better and more confident.

So, while there is no one concrete reason as to why women choose vaginal tightening, it’s important to know how it works and what to expect throughout the procedure.

Who Needs Labia Shrinking?

Again, women choose to have labiaplasty for a variety of reasons. A few of those reasons, though, make choosing vaginal tightening an easy decision. Again, whether you’ve always had a longer labia or you’re experiencing it now after childbirth, it can cause discomfort. For some women, it can even be painful. If that sounds like you, you’re a perfect candidate for this surgery.

Vaginal tightening is also for any woman who feels self-conscious or insecure about the size and/or shape of her vagina. We believe everyone should feel comfortable in their own skin, which is why we’re happy to offer such a restorative procedure.

How Does It Work?

Labiaplasty works by reshaping the vaginal lips. Excess tissue is cut away and the shorter, cleaner skin is easily stitched up. You’ll have a consultation with Dr. Grossman before the procedure to determine exactly what will happen and how he will be removing some of that tissue. It’s a process that typically only takes 1-2 hours and allows you to go home right after. You may feel some slight discomfort after the procedure, but it shouldn’t be painful.

It can take a couple of weeks before you should do things like go back to work or participate in anything active. The skin itself can take a couple of months to heal. Dr. Grossman will go over more about the recovery process and how you can boost healing before he performs the procedure. The most important thing is to give yourself enough time to properly heal, especially before going back to any sexual activity.

As you might expect, labiaplasty is a very personal decision. It’s your body, and it’s up to you whether you decide you want to go through vaginal tightening. Again, everyone has their own reasons for choosing this surgery, and that’s okay!

It’s important to note that it has become a very popular procedure in the world of plastic surgery in recent years. More women are finally getting to boost their confidence or experience less discomfort, thanks to a tighter vagina.

If you’re interested in vaginal tightening but you’re still unsure whether it’s right for you or not, contact the Grossman Plastic Surgery office today. While this is a safe and effective procedure, a consultation with the doctor can make it easier to decide if it’s right for you.
