Who is an Ideal Patient for Co2 Fractional Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

If you are looking for anti-aging surgical or non-surgical cosmetic procedures, and you aren’t sure which option is the right one for you, it is worth your best interest to book a consultation with Dr. Peter Grossman to learn all about the benefits of Co2 laser skin rejuvenation. Most plastic surgeons agree that the Co2 fractional laser is the best treatment if you hope to get significantly more results in a single treatment. If you want to look and feel younger, the Co2 fractional laser could be an ideal alternative to a facelift, but only the doctor will be able to give you an accurate assessment.

Many plastic surgeons will recommend the Co2 fractional laser treatment for people with advanced skin damage and wrinkling. In some cases, people have multiple deep wrinkles due to overexposure to the sun, and in other cases its genetics, But this laser treatment can carve 20 years off your appearance.

What does the Recovery Time Look like for Patients Who Get the Co2 Fractional Laser Treatment?

Recovery time will vary on several factors that include your medical history and the condition of your skin. But more people take 7 to 14 days to completely heal. Undergoing a Co2 fractional laser treatment is the equivalent of having multiple non-invasive treatments at once, so it saves you a great degree of recovery time. While the recovery time is significantly shorter than those recovering from traditional facelifts, it is still a good idea to keep activities to a minimum while getting plenty of rest over the next two weeks. Your physician, based on your medical record, will possibly give you some medication to help keep you comfortable, as well as come special creams and lotions for your face and neck. But most people who seek the Co2 fractional laser treatment are back to their usual routine after a week’s time, while others need two weeks to fully recover.

Does Co2 Fractional Laser Treatment Require Pre and Post Treatment?
When investing in the Co2 fractional laser treatment, you will be having an in-office procedure that will require pre and post-treatment medications to facilitate comfort and healing during and after the procedure. In fact, most patients benefit from a topical anesthetic applied to the areas that are receiving the laser treatment, and in some cases local anesthetic is given through an injection, or tumescent anesthetic along with prescribed sedatives might be prescribed to make the patient comfortable. Again, the doctor will help you make the right decision based on your current medical history and needs for a comfortable and graceful recovery.
What Should You Expect to Feel Like Right After the Co2 Fractional Laser Treatment
The pain will likely be very minimal. In fact, most patients describe their post-procedure comfort levels as if they have a bad sunburn for the first 10 hours to two days. As long as you follow your discharge instructions and use the pain control medications prescribed to you, you can expect only minor discomfort as you heal.
How Many Co2 Fractional Laser Treatments Do People Usually Need?
The number of treatments are predicated on your skin’s condition and your beauty goals. However, most patients only require one treatment to get the results they are looking for. In some cases, there may be areas that can’t be treated aggressively, so an extra treatment in these areas may be necessary in order for you to get your ideal look. Also, based on your skin’s condition, you may require a few routine maintenance follow-up treatments. When you book your consultation with Dr. Grossman, he will be able to give you a better idea as to what you can expect. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, you will likely need maintenance touch-up procedures to maintain your newly found youthful look. Furthermore, even if you avoid the sun completely, you may need another treatment after one or two years. Once the doctor has examined your face and its condition, he will be able to carve out an approach that will outline recovery time and any needed maintenance.
Are there Any Risks or Side Effects with the Co2 Fractional Laser Treatment?

With any procedure, regardless of how invasive it is, there will always be some degree of risk and side effects. The primary negative side to the Co2 laser is the downtime of 7 to 14 days required for the skin to completely heal. During the recovery period it is normal to experience redness of the face, along with dryness, flaking and peeling. However, prescribed facial moisturizers will help to control this. It is highly advisable to stay at home for the first two weeks after the procedure, though with your doctor’s approval you should be able to work from home two days after the procedure. At Grossman Plastic Surgery we provide full facial anesthesia, so there should be minimal to no pain during the procedure, or in the hours to come after the procedure is completed. Some other side effects can include (but are not limited to) infection, minor scarring, and hypo and hyper pigmentation. But prior to the procedure Dr.Grossman will discuss these risks with you, and based on your skin’s condition and current medical health, you may be at low risk for experiencing any of these things.
