Botox and Fillers Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is a botulinum toxin which is used to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face by relaxing the muscles responsible for creating those unwanted lines (crow’s feet) and creases in your glabella (between your eyebrows) and on your forehead. Botox treatments have also shown success in preventing headaches and migraines.

Dr. Grossman also recommends Dysport™, which has been used in Europe for more than 15 years and is the newest botulinum toxin to be approved for use in the United States by the FDA.

How long does the effects of Botox Face Injections last?

Botox face enhancements and Dysport cosmetic injections are considered non-invasive procedures that can be done during a 15-20 minute office appointment. Botulinum toxin cosmetic injections are estimated to last up to nine months. Both injection treatments are comparable in price. Contact the office regarding pricing and to schedule your appointment today for a more youthful rejuvenated face within days of your injection.

What are dermal soft tissue fillers?

Dermal soft tissue fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers that are used to restore volume and correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Soft tissue fillers are most commonly injected around the nasolabial folds — the lines traveling from your nose to the corner of your mouth — your marionette lines, and lips to introduce fullness or fill in fine lines.

Are there different kinds of fillers?

For the best results, Dr. Grossman uses Restylane® and Juvéderm® product lines in his cosmetic care clinic. These brands are constantly seeking to improve the effectiveness of their products. For instance, Juvéderm XC is the first and only non-surgical hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that’s FDA-approved to instantly smooth moderate to severe wrinkles around your nose and mouth for up to one year with optimal treatment.

Juvéderm Voluma XC is the first and only FDA-approved injectable gel to instantly add volume to your cheek area (malar region) to correct age-related volume loss in adults over the age of 21. It can give you contour and a subtle lift for up to two years with optimal treatment.

What are the treatments like?

All injectables can be done in a 30-45 minute office visit. The offer topical lidocaine numbing cream to all their patients to minimize the discomfort.  Fillers normally last between Six months to a year. Side effects are rare and normally include mild irritation at the injection site which resolves quickly.
